Starting the Day, and Starting Again

This morning began the same way as most days.

My son woke up happy, saying “yes, school,” and even though he keeps asking if he’s okay to go, he still says yes. As long as he’s happy, I’ll keep moving forward and supporting him. I just hope he has a good day. That’s my boy.

Meanwhile, my mind is full.

I’m still torn about whether I should continue my Shopify store because I feel like I’m not going anywhere. I’m starting to feel upset, unmotivated, and honestly a bit foolish. I started this “online business” back in November 2025 and I’ve only had two real sales. It feels funny and painful at the same time.

Even though I’m losing money, I don’t want to give up.

There’s something about working on my store that makes me happy. It pulls me away from my real job and gives me something that feels meaningful. Even when no one notices my shop, I still feel proud of it. I get some traffic sometimes, but not enough to matter. I tried Facebook ads, but they didn’t help. I don’t have a big following, and most of my Facebook friends are people I know in real life — they’re not my target audience.

Still, I want to continue because the niche makes me happy.

It’s connected to my son, and it feels like something I understand deeply. But when I look online, I see huge companies in the same niche. It crushes me and inspires me at the same time. Some AI tools tell me the niche isn’t saturated, but I don’t believe it. I see millions of similar products everywhere.

I keep paying Shopify, and I get nothing back.

But I’m also proud of myself. I built a small business from scratch — NZBN, trademark, logo, domain, everything. That’s not nothing.

I cancelled most of my subscriptions — Prime, Disney, Spotify — and kept only Netflix. The money I saved just went straight to Shopify. It felt like a fair trade.

I keep asking God for a sign.

A sign to tell me when it’s time to shut down the store. One day, when I opened my shop, every product I clicked redirected to a “you might like this” page. Every single one. I thought my store was broken. I’m not a tech person, so I panicked. I even asked God, “Is this the sign?”

I tried fixing it with Shopify Sidekick and another AI tool, but it involved coding and theme settings. I was ready to give up. But then — somehow — I fixed it. Easily. Suddenly. Like my mind cleared.

And in that moment, I felt something.

Maybe this wasn’t a sign to stop.

Maybe it was a sign to keep going.

Because the truth is… I don’t want to give up.

So I’ll try again.
